The Church

As a member of the Church of England’s General Synod, I represent Manchester Diocese in debates about key issues of Church Governance. For many years, Synod has been dominated by the controversial move towards consecrating women bishops. There are, however, other important (if not always gripping) matters, such as financing the church and ensuring we are focussed on Christ’s mission.

An important part of my representative role is to learn more about churches across the diocese. I am always very happy to hear more about the work of the CofE in and around Manchester. Do get in touch if there you have any particular concern – james@jamestownsend.org

I am a liberal catholic, worshipping at Manchester Cathedral.
